BlackBerry has teased launching BBM for iOS and Android for a while now and today is release day, as reported on BlackBerry's blog. Even though you can download it to your device, you can't use it just yet.

I enjoyed using the BlackBerry Q10 and even the Z10, but still only have about five BBM friends on the BlackBerry platform. That said, I refreshed the Google Play BBM for Android page until I was able to download it on my Note 3.

Installing and then launching BBM for Android just gets you into the queue as soon as you enter your email address. I have been in the queue for about an hour and have no idea when I will get the email giving me access to BBM so I cannot talk about my experiences with the app.

The bigger question for me is, will I finally get more than five friends on BBM? If I do, it's certain that those friends are not running it on BlackBerry hardware.

Indonesian mobile devices and services company Skybee revealed that it is in the process of acquiring an e-commerce company according to a report by IndoTelko. Additionally the company is also pushing Skye Mobile Money as a payment method for mobile consumers after it let go of its majority ownership of Numedia Global, the company behind mig33, this time last year.

Skybee commissioner Kendro Hendra told IndoTelko, “we especially aim for the large consumer market which has a high long term growth potential. The e-commerce sector is in our sights since it will strengthen the ecosystem for Skye Sab Indonesia of which we own 51 percent share”.

The company is reluctant to reveal its acquisition target but the move is clearly designed to assist the adoption of its mobile payment product.

Skybee is looking to extend its partnerships with a number of e-commerce companies in Indonesia to expand the rollout and adoption of Sky Mobile Money, but the plan to acquire an e-commerce company may end up placing Skybee as a direct competitor to its existing and potential partners. No further details are available regarding the acquisition plan.

Mobile payment difficulties and outlook
Unlike the dominance of PayPal and the surging adoption of Square and Dwolla in the United States, the adoption of independent, electronic mobile payment solution has been very slow and very challenging among Indonesian consumers.

In an interview with IndoTelko, President Director of Skye Sab Indonesia, Adriaan S. Djojorahardjo said, “It’s not that [consumers] are reluctant, but more to the fact that they don’t know how to use it. We admit that there needs to be a more aggressive education for mobile money”.

The advantage of mobile money according to Djojorahardjo is the fact that consumers don’t need to carry an additional security token as the system will be integrated with mobile phones.

1 million users by mid next year
Djojorahardjo believes that adoption of mobile money is only a matter of time and that in two years, it will be a common way to pay for electronic transactions.

Skye Sab expects to have one million active users of Skye Mobile Money in 2014 and it plans on achieving that through partnering with institutions and companies.

The rapid adoption of smartphones coupled with a strong push by local mobile phone vendors is expected to drive awareness and demand for the use of a more integrated mobile payment system.

Having partnered with Zalora, Lazada, and the Indonesian e-commerce association, idEA, Skybee hopes to have its mobile money more widely accepted as a payment method across online stores in the country.

Rumah Zakat partnership
Last week the company announced a deal with Rumah Zakat and launched JaMal, a mobile app for BlackBerry OS and Android, to facilitate the annual payment of zakat and infaq for Muslims. The partnership with Rumah Zakat is expected to produce over 72,000 registered Skye users out of Rumah Zakat’s 145,000 donors.

To drive the adoption of the app, the company included a number of more common functions generally offered by banking apps. The app lets consumers purchase electricity tokens, prepaid phone credits, game vouchers, pay TV subscriptions, and other installment payments.

Long road for Skye Mobile Money
Djojodihardjo said that Skye’s existing customers are still primarily on BlackBerry with the rest being on Android, but he expects this ratio to be reversed and the company is currently preparing to roll out a solution for iOS devices.

Skye Mobile Money currently has about 50,000 monthly active users out of 250,000 registered, with the average per person transaction reaching up to IDR 250,000 per month.

Clearly Skybee has a long way to go to have its mobile money widely accepted not just by merchants but by consumers as well. The reluctance of Indonesians to adopt a new payment method is widely understood. With credit card usage not even reaching 10% of the population and growth of mobile and internet banking remains slow, there’s a mountain to climb for Skybee and other independent payment companies to reach widespread relevance.

YouTube has finally launched its paid subscription service today. YouTube will eventually implement a subscription cost to a number of its channels which may well be the new way for people to enjoy more content on top of the billions of existing YouTube videos.
Since 2007 YouTube has been running the YouTube Partner Program, a service aimed at content creators to earn revenue from their creative endeavors. For YouTube, the creators have a significant contribution in developing amazing channels including news channels, education, entertainment, and so on. These creators are also responsible in bringing more than a billion viewers per year to YouTube.
At the moment there are a million channels that earn a revenue from YouTube and one of the most frequently received request from channel owners is flexibility in monetizing and distributing content that they present to viewers. With this considered, YouTube decided to create a paid service for a number of its channels.
Announced through its official blog post, YouTube will be delivering 53 paid channels initially which viewers can subscribe to for $0.99 or roughly Rp 10,000 per month. In promoting this effort, the paid channels will have a 14 day free trial period in which viewers can choose to continue their subscription beyond the 14 days after paying the fee.
For the moment, YouTube already has several partners for this paid channel service, among which are Sesame Street, UFC, Big Star Movies, Comedy TV, and many others. To further satisfy its consumers, YouTube will also provide a synchronization service which will allow subscribers to enjoy their paid channels not just on desktop computers but also devices such as smartphones, tablets, TV, and others. While currently YouTube has 53 paid channels, the number will grow according to approved requests.
Trenologi reports that YouTube viewers in Indonesia currently cannot subscribe to the paid channels. According to an email from head of communications Google Indonesia, Vishnu Mahmud, to DailySocial, “partners determine in which countries their channels are available and we’re working to bring more subscribing and viewing options across devices”.

BlackBerry stunned the world, plus brought truth to years of rumours, when they announced their popular messaging service BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) would be coming to iOS and Android this Summer. The app will be free and is “subject to approval by Google Play and the Apple App Store.”
During his keynote presentation, Thorsten Heins, BlackBerry CEO, stated that “at launch we’ll support iPhones running iOS 6 or higher and Android devices running Ice Cream Sandwich or higher.”
This statement led to some questions about tablets. Vivek Bhardwaj, Head of the BlackBerry Software Portfolio, cleared up the air by saying BBM for tablets will not be in the cards at launch, but possibly later. “At this point it is iOS and Android, and that’s iOS phones running iOS 6 and higher. Smartphone is our real focus and again it comes back to what BBM is. If you look BBM and the engagement and the activity, it’s because it is mobile, because people are on the go.”
Tablets, such as the iPad and the pletora of Android tablets, are certainly mobile and probably something BlackBerry is holding in their back pocket when they release all the BBM features. When BBM for iPhone and Android smartphones becomes available, users will be limited to only messaging and groups. “Later on” BBM for iOS and Android will have BBM Voice, BBM screen share, and BBM Channels.
Heins capped off his BBM notes by proudly saying “I cannot wait for the day when all of our BlackBerry fans can send BBM invites to all their friends on other platforms. They’ve asked us for this for years. The time has come now for everyone to experience what we all know. BBM is simply the best messaging and collaboration platform in mobile today.”
There are over 60 million active BBM users around the world.

Indonesia is one of the few countries in Southeast Asia that is yet to deploy 4G commercially, and it’s under pressure from all fronts to rectify that situation. At an event held to discuss 4G LTE in Jakarta on Thursday, carriers, regulators, network companies, and the government all agreed that the implementation of 4G needs to happen soon.
In his opening speech, head of the telecommunications section of the Indonesian chamber of commerce Johnny Swandi Sjam acknowledged that the country is trailing many of its neighbours.
“Other countries may have already implemented 4G networks but we have just recently completed the final tender on the final two blocks of the 3G frequency,” he admitted.
Sjam looked back on trends, reflecting that the focus was on voice calls during the first decade of mobile communications in Indonesia. Even though voice was dominant, it was eventually overtaken in popularity by text messaging thanks to SMS — that’s changed now, of course.

Today, over the top services, better known to consumers as apps, which run using mobile data, are rapidly pushing SMS aside. “It’s not inconceivable that these all-you-can-eat text messaging deals will evolve into video messaging and streaming along with the demand for the evolution of technology”, said Sjam.
Sjam is projecting that the number of 2G data subscribers will fall to 5 percent by 2015, whereas 3G subscribers are estimated to reach 45 percent during that time, incorporating 4G subscribers once it’s commercially available (which assumes Indonesia will have 4G connectivity by that time).
His concern, though, is that current 3G networks are so limited in frequency that it has pushed the popularity of apps that require low intensity data connections. That, in turn, is driving operator revenues down, instead of up. The arrival of 4G is expected to see those revenues rise again, but it will take time.
According to Sjam, in 2012, SIM card penetration reached 119.9 percent of the population and it’s expected to reach 144 percent within three years, but actual usage lags at 58 percent. He said that a significant number of SIMs are used like disposable calling cards which is hurting carriers in terms of revenue and projections. That growth rate is actually relatively low but it represents an opportunity for carriers to seek new customers, especially in an age when many people carry multiple devices.
Comparing year-on-year figures, the share of revenue from voice service is declining, and will continue to decline, said Sjam. In 2012 voice revenue made up 61.8 percent of the total mobile pie, but it is expected drop to 55.9 percent by 2015. Non-voice revenue is projected to slowly rise from 38.2 percent in 2012 to 44.1 percent in 2015.
President Director and CEO of Indosat Alexander Rusli said that the world has become more bandwidth hungry. As devices become more sophisticated, the data traffic consumed by these devices increase in multiple folds. He claimed that data consumption on tablets is 120-times greater than on traditional feature phones, while smartphones consume around 50-times more data.
“When customers switch to a more sophisticated device, their data usage increases,” Rusli said.
“The bulk of the production is smart devices, no longer feature phones,” he continued. “At Mobile World Congress, the focus was on smart devices while only a small number of feature phones were announced. People used to want more processing power, but now they want more bandwidth.”
The government is scheduled to complete its 4G regulations by the end of the year. This is expected to open the door for 4G LTE to be rolled out commercially in 2014, although Telkom Indonesia says that its Telkomsel subsidiary has plans to commercially roll out 4G LTE later this year in four areas: Jakarta, Bali, Medan and Manado. It is not clear, however, which frequency will be used.
The issue of frequency is an important one because existing LTE-capable devices are equipped to handle LTE connections at specific ranges. As we wrote last year, deploying LTE through an unpopular frequency will amount to very little as few devices will be able to take advantage of it.
The adoption of 4G LTE is crucial to the sustainability of the industry, and it has to be done correctly with the support of all parties concerned. The industry and the government must learn from the failure of WiMAX in Indonesia.

Hi guys, now its time time to convert decimal to binary. just read it and try it.

1. Set up the problem. For this example, let's convert the decimal number 15610 to binary.

  • Write the decimal number as the dividend inside an upside-down "long division" symbol.
  • Write the base of the destination system (in our case, "2" for binary) as the divisor outside the curve of the division symbol.
2Write the integer answer (quotient) under the long division symbol, and write the remainder (0 or 1) to the right of the dividend.

  • Basically, if the dividend is even, the binary remainder will be 0; if the dividend is odd, the binary remainder will be 1.
3. Continue downwards, dividing each new quotient by two and writing the remainders to the right of each dividend. Stop when the quotient is 0.
4. Starting with the bottom remainder, read the sequence of remainders upwards to the top. For this example, you should have 10011100. This is the binary equivalent of the decimal number 156. Or, written with base subscripts: 15610 = 100111002

This method can be modified to convert from decimal to any base. The divisor is 2 because the desired destination is base 2. If the desired destination is a different base, replace the 2 in the method with the desired base. For example, if the desired destination is base 9, replace the 2 with 9. The final result will then be in the desired base.

Now, In this post . I will explain how to  convert binary ( base-2) to hexadecimal (base-16) . Check it out!

STEP 1
Divide the binary number into sets of 4 digits. Add leading zeros as needed. For example, write the binary number 11101100101001 as 0011 1011 0010 1001.
STEP 2
Use the following table to convert each 4-digit binary string to a single hex digit: 1 (1), 10 (2), 11 (3), 100 (4), 101 (5), 110 (6), 111 (7), 1000 (8), 1001 (9), 1010 (A), 1011 (B), 1100 (C), 1101 (D), 1110 (E), and 1111 (F). The digits in () are the hex equivalents to the preceding binary number.

STEP 3
Remove the spaces of the result. You should have your hexadecimal number now.

Easy?? :D
Try this at home , good luck!
